Sunday suspicions -LPGA
It is Sunday in South Korea. It is a cold, windy Sunday in South Korea. The temperature will not reach 55° Fahrenheit and the wind will be a factor at about 15 mile per hour. One hopes there will be no rain today, as yesterday’s round was interrupted by an hour and a half rain delay.
Of the two current leaders Yani Tseng had just finished her round and signed her card when the rain hit the KOLON Championship 2009, SKY 72 Golf Club in Incheon, South Korea. Tseng had a nice two under par 70 for the day. On the other hand Na Yeon Choi had just completed the 15th hole and had an hour and a half to stiffen up before finishing 16, 17 and 18. Choi did just fine and these two second year LPGA players finished tied for the second day lead.
Who else in the top ten (actually sixteen) has victories this year?
Eun-Hee Ji on
7/12/2009 won the
U.S. Women’s Open.
Ji Young Oh on 5/17/2009 won the
Sybase Classic.
In-Kyung Kim has a victory at the LPGA State Farm Classic on 6/7/2009
Se Ri Pak has not won this year, but has won 24 tournaments on the LPGA Tour.
Maria Hjorth has three career wins but nothing since the 2007 Navistar LPGA Classic and a couple of other wins in 1999.
Conclusion: Tseng or Choi will win – I give the nod to Tseng. Possible: Se Ri Pak, Jiyai Shin or Christina Kim. Of course, there is always a first time for everyone who wins any of the the top 20 could do it.
