Happy Birthday Tim Clark!
Timothy Henry Clark was born in Durban, South Africa, 17 December 1975. Clark’s father began teaching him to play golf at 3 years old. Even though he is just 5′ 7″ tall the 34 year old has proven himself on the PGA Tour. This last year Clark finished 29th on the PGA Tour money list with $2.2 million. He earned two second places a fourth and a fifth and a ninth place for 5 top ten finishes. He has been called “…the best PGA Tour player to have never won on the PGA Tour,” by CBS commentators.
Now a resident of Scottsdale, Arizona, Clark was educated at North Carolina State University. In 1997 he was the Atlantic Coast Conference Golfer of the Year. Until this year Clark had the NC State Record Low Scoring Average at (70.87 in 1997-98).
Clark turned professional in 1998. He initially played on the second tier Nike Tour, now the Nationwide, where he won two tournaments in 2000 to win his PGA Tour card for 2001. Those were the 2000 BUY.COM Fort Smith Classic, BUY.COM Boise Open.
Clark won the following International tournaments: 2002 Bell’s South African Open (EuroTour). In 2005 South African Airways Open (EuroTour), Barclays Scottish Open (EuroTour).
He has also won: 1998 New Brunswick Open, Canadian PGA Championship (both Canadian Tour)
2005 Nelson Mandela Invitational (unofficial money event in South Africa;
2006 CVS/pharmacy Charity Classic (with Nick Price; unofficial event)
2008 Australian Open
His three European Tour wins: 2002 Bell’s South African Open (co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour) for which in part he was the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit winner 2001/02
2005 South African Airways Open (co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour), Barclays Scottish Open
